Vitamin Supplements

Vitamin Supplements

Vitamins and trace minerals are a necessary part of any diet, and any healthy diet requires necessary amounts, some in larger amounts than specified in government daily recommended amounts. The general opinion in the medical community is that a diet with good variety will provide all the vitamins needed. This, of course, is possible if it is a perfect diet that provides every vitamin or trace mineral in close to the exact requirement. However, most people do not even get close to the amount needed for each nutrient. Shortages of certain vitamins can cause serious diseases and conditions. For example, a deficiency in vitamin C can cause scurvy, and a deficiency in iron causes anemia.

A healthy diet will produce most of the needed nutrients, but to make sure you have all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals, take a supplement of a good multivitamin. Healthy nutrition means to eat no refined glucose or carbohydrate, eat fruits, vegetables, lean protein, sprounted grain bread, cold water fish, whole grains, and fiber.
