Schizoid Personality Disorder

Schizoid Personality Disorder

Schizoid personality disorder is in the class of personality disorders in which the person lives in a fantasy world.  People thus afflicted are introverted, withdrawn, live a solitary life and have no desire for social relationships.  This condition is rare and has the lowest representation in personality disorders. The people are indifferent to proper social norms and conventions, have no close friends, and are not affected by praise or criticism.

Unless adverse consequences result from this condition, those with it seldom seek help, usually because they are content with their condition. If adverse consequences do result, the people should receive therapy from a therapist experienced in personality disorders. There are many options and the therapist should select the type of treatment that is best for the specific problem.

Regardless of the treatment selected, a healthy lifestyle will not only benefit this condition but almost any health problem. For more information on a healthy lifestyle, please view my articles on “Key to the Century Mark”, and “Alzheimer’s” at no charge by clicking on the link below.
