Retarded Ejaculation
Retarded ejaculation is a sexual dysfunction in which a man cannot
ejaculate or is delayed in having an orgasm, even though he has an
erection and sexual desires. This is a rare condition, but as men age,
the time required to have an orgasm increases. A man usually has
an orgasm within three or four minutes; it may be delayed as much as
thirty minutes; it may not happen at all.
There are many causes of retarded ejaculation. Some men never have
ejaculation through sexual intercourse, but are only able to have an
orgasm except through masturbation. Many causes are possible: a strict
religious background that make sex for pleasure sinful; fear of
pregnancy; exclusive concern for the pleasure of the partner; effects
from another psychological problem; effects from a physical condition,
perhaps a neurological condition or dysfunction of the prostate.
Treatment of this disorder should be under the care of a doctor who
is a specialist in psychotherapy and cognitive behavior. There are many
options for treatment and the doctor should choose the most effective
remedy.
Regardless of the type of treatment, a healthy lifestyle of proper
nutrition and exercise will not only be beneficial for this disorder
but for almost any health problem. For more information on a healthy
