Prostatis Research
Prostatis is an inflammation of the prostate gland. The inflammation may be caused from bacterial infection in the urinary tract, a viral infecton, fungal infection or for an unknown cause. Depending on how severe the infection develops, symptoms could be chills and fever, and pain in the lower back and groin. There also may be urgency to frequently urinate.
The doctor can usually determine the condition of prostatis by a physical examination and hearing the symptoms. The prostate when felt may be tender, and the doctor's examination, painful. If necessary, the doctor can obtain a sample of fluid from the prostate by pressing the prostate during the rectal examination. For a mild prostatis condition, in which there is no infection, warm baths plus some rest and the consumption of a generoius supply of liquids is all that needs to be done. For conditions of infection of the prostate the doctor may prescribe antibiotics and, when needed, drugs for pain relief.
