Posttraumatic Epilepsy

Posttraumatic epilepsy is a condition in which brain damage from hard blows leads to seizures.  The seizures may begin immediately and recur at intervals or it could be a year before a seizure occurs. If the blow to the head does not penetrate to the brain only a small percentage of severe blows will cause seizures. If the blow to the head penetrates to the brain a substantial number of the injuries will develop seizures.

Under a doctor’s care there are drugs that can control the seizures.
