Postpartum Depression

Postpartum Depression

Postpartum depression is a condition in which the mother has a mild depression that usually occurs three or four days after delivery. It normally lasts only a few days and requires no treatment other than the support of family and close friends.

If the depression is a combination of no interest in the baby, abnormal behavior, violent or suicidal thoughts, hallucinations, or other severe matters, then counseling with psychotherapist is needed. This kind of a situation is more likely to happen to a woman who has had previous mental disorders.
