Boil Medication

Boil medication may affect liver problems and hepatitis. Abscesses are infections of the skin by bacteria. They usually appear on the face or neck but sometimes infect the breast or buttock. The bacteria must find a break in the skin to cause an infection so most abscesses form in hair follicles. Abscesses are like pimples only much larger, are tender and have pus in the center. Boils infections are extremely contagious and could infect a large group such as teenagers attending an athletic camp where everyone uses the same quarters, dining area, and toilet facilities. Along with this would be poor and careless hygiene. Carbuncles are clusters of boils and are much more severe with capabilities of causing far more pain and fever than single boils. The favored spot for carbuncles is the back of the neck. The best prevention for abscesses and also to prevent infection in others is strict hygiene. The skin must be kept clean with soap and a soap with anti-bacterial substances will provide the most protection. A single abscess may be cleared up with nothing but moist heat. No squeezing or additional treatment will be needed. Boils near the nose should not be treated except under a doctor's direction with oral antibiotics to avoid the danger of brain infection. Although abscesses usually infect in the hair follicles from bacteria on the face, neck or arms infections can begin on the skin at any part of the body if there is any kind of injury that breaks the skin. Because the infection of an abscess is so contagious, it may be present on the skin and penetrate at the point of injury. The abscess can cause a severe pain with tenderness, pus in the center and a feeling of fluid in the area. The skin around the abscess must be kept clean to keep the abscess from infecting the surrounding which if infected could cause a dangerous condition of cellulite. A severe abscess can be successfully treated under a doctor's care by lancing the abscess and removing all the pus. The doctor must be careful to see that all pus is removed. A small remainder can be removed with a salt solution. If the abscess is completely free of all pus, no further treatment will be needed. Boil medication may affect liver problems and hepatitis.
