The abscess can cause severe pain with tenderness, pus in the center and a feeling of fluid in the area. The skin around the abscess must be kept clean to keep from infecting the surrounding area which if infected could develop into a severe case of cellulite. The best prevention for abscesses and also to protect others is strict hygiene. The skin must be kept clean with soap and a soap with anti-bacterial substances will provide the most protection.
