Pedophilia

Pedophilia

Pedophilia is a deviant behavior in the category of paraphilias. This is a disorder that is characterized by being sexually attracted to children thirteen years or younger. Pedophilia can be diagnosed by the following symptoms:

The sexual interest is directed exclusively to children or it is the primary sexual urge of the person; the person involved is sixteen years or older; the object of sexual interest is thirteen years or younger; and  the condition has continued for six months or more.

A person afflicted with pedophilia may be intensely interested in sexual activity with children but not have sexual relations with them. The extent of the relationships of the person with pedophilia could be with only members of their family or they could be a menace to the general public.

There are a variety of treatments that have been tried for pedophilia, but only a small percentage of the cases have been successful. A person diagnosed with pedophilia should be under care of a doctor who is a specialist in psychiatric and cognitive behavior.

Regardless of the treatment, a healthy lifestyle of exercise and proper nutrition will not only benefit this disorder, but will benefit almost any health problem.
