Paranoid Personality Disorder

Paranoid Personality Disorder

Paranoid personality disorder is characterized by unjustified distrust, including the tendency to falsify experienced events. The person with paranoid personality misinterprets other people’s innocent and trivial acts as hostile and damaging even though some may be complimentary.

Paranoia irrationally suspects deceit and disloyalty of friends. This paranoid is reluctant to confide in others because his confidences may be used against him.

Treatment for personality disorders is generally the same as for all types of personality disorders, but the psychiatric profile for each patient and the symptoms can be so varied that treatment must tailored for each patient.

In many cases the patient will not seek treatment because of distrust of any third parties, including the doctor.  So a third party may need to initiate treatment. The therapist should be one experienced in psychological disorders and particularly in paranoid disorders. There are many options for treatment and the therapist should select the most effective one.

Regardless of the treatment selected, a healthy lifestyle of proper nutrition and exercise will not only benefit this condition but almost any health problem .For more information on a healthy lifestyle please view my articles on “Keys to the Century Mark,” and “Alzheimer’s  at no charge by clicking on the link below.
