Panic Disorder Research
Panic disorder is a condition in which a person has frequent panic attacks. The frequency may vary from several a day to a few in a year. When a person has an anxiety condition from going through a severe traumatic experience in which the event causes the person to continue repeatedly having the same thoughts and feelings it is called post traumatic stress disorder. An example of posttraumatic stress is one in which the children go through when one of their classmates kills or injures several of their classmates. An event that causes serous injury or death causes the person to continually review the event in dreams, flashbacks, and thoughts even though the person tries to avoid anything that would be a reminder. When a person goes through a traumatic experience but does not experience any of the above systems until a month later and then only have symptoms a short time, it is called acute stress disorder. A frequency in the occurrence of panic attacks is what indicates panic disorder research.

The therapist must be a sympathetic person that lets the person that their pain is valid but encouragement is given to the person to face up to the memories during behavioral therapy. Under a doctor's care drugs may be advisable particularly in anxiety and panic disorders.
