Metastatic Bone Tumors

When cancers spread to bones not in the original area, the cancers are called metastatic bone tumors. Lung, breast, kidney and prostate cancers are ones that are prone to spread to bone. People who have had cancer that have symptoms of pain in a bone or swelling should be checked for bone tumors. Checking can be done with x-rays or bone scans. There are times when metastasis bone tumor symptoms are detected before the original cancer has been found.

Treatment will depend upon the most effective for the type of cancer. The doctor has options for several kinds of treatment that need to be presented to the person for consultation and consideration.
