Mania
Mania is a medical disorder that is recognized by an unusually elevated
energy and mood, and impulsive actions. Many people speak of mania as
an amazing experience, but the condition can become so intense and
elevated that it could be dangerous. The victim could make some
impulsive decisions that could bring great financial losses.
Mania in almost all cases is part of bipolar disorder which will cause
short periods of depression to interrupt the mania.
Signs of mania are elation, hostility, irritability, nonstop
talking, a look of confusion or staring into space. This
condition rapidly becomes complex because the person may complain of
recurring thoughts and hallucinations. Along with this the person
becomes completely goal oriented and is prone to make some poor
decisions. The person also develops a false sense of being extremely
successful.
Mania is diagnosed by its symptoms which are easily recognized by
the above symptoms. The doctor who makes the diagnosis must have
a meeting with relatives for a medical history of the patient
because the patient believes that he or she does not have any
medical problems and are not interested in any treatment. After
the doctor is satisfied treatment should begin, the doctor may
want the patient to be treated in a hospital since this is not
only a medical, but also a social condition.
The treatment should be directed by a psychiatrist who is a
specialist in behavioral therapy. Drugs are the first option for
treatment but must be closely monitored to prevent dangerous side
affects.
Regardless of the type of treatment, a healthy lifestyle of proper
nutrition and physiotherapy will not only benefit this condition
but almost any health problem. For more information on a healthy
