Keys To Reaching The Century Mark

Keys to Reaching the Century Mark

Most of the anti-aging medical and health practitioners have always felt that genes were the key to long life. However, recent research indicates that only 30 percent depends on genes, whereas 70 percent is the result of a healthy life style.

If you have reached the age of sixty and are lucky enough to have no serious disease or complications such as heart disease, Alzheimer's, diabetes or Parkinsonism, now is the time to begin a healthy life style that will build up your immune system and prevent the onset of any debilitating health or medical condition. A strong immune system depends on healthy nutrition and exercise. Even if you have a major disease or condition, this program will help overcome it. It is not too late to start. To help with problems you already have, you may refer to articles on my website for additional treatment for the specific complaint

Here is a list of instructions to follow:

  1. If you are a smoker, quit now. (Refer to my web site for help).
  2. Healthy nutrition means to eat no refined glucose or carbohydrates. Instead, eat fruits, vegetables, full grains, cold-water fish, lean beef broiled from grass fed cattle, broiled or baked chicken; also, eat up to two eggs per day with omega-3 fats. Eat no more than one meat product per day, and on many days eat no meat products at all, but nine servings per day of the fruit, vegetable, and grain category. The black beans, red beans or kidney beans of the vegetable category will provide all the protein you need, but keep the portions low.
  3. One portion a day of a dairy product will lower weight or prevent weight gain. I eat one dairy product for breakfast which consists of fat free cottage cheese on toasted, sprouted, multigrain bread. Each day eat two tablespoons of golden brown flax seed mixed with water or soy milk. Mix in one-half teaspoon of cinnamon and you have a delicious milk shake. Flax seed is an almost miraculous food that has an abundance of omega-3 fatty acids, has fiber, will lower triglycerides and cholesterol and has a wealth of anti-oxidants that support the immune system. The cinnamon in your mix will lower blood pressure and combat insulin resistance.
  4. Food supplements that are important include a multivitamin, up to one teaspoon full of turmeric and a minimum of one gram per day of fish oil. Acetyl L-carnetine combined with alpha-lipoic acid is a combination food supplement that is the most exciting anti-aging therapy that has emerged in recent research. The research is by Bruce Ames, PhD, a scientist at the University of California at Berkeley.
  5. To protect your eyes, take a food supplement that has all the elements that protect your eyes from macular degeneration and other vision problems. Most important ingredients to check for on the vision supplement are lutein and bilberry.
  6. Additional great food supplements are also available from Mannatech, which is the only company that has glyconutrients. These are food supplements that have no chemical or synthetic ingredients. All products are from natural plant based fruits and vegetables. I have been taking Mannatech's multivitamin, ambrotose and AO for several years. For additional information, see my article on glyconutrients.
  7. Men should limit calories to 2000 and women to 1800 per day. You can forget about calories if you skip a meal nearly every day or just take a snack of a piece of fruit. Eating fewer calories each day will be healthful and also prolong life. An alternative to skipping a meal every day is to fast one day per week.
  8. Your exercise program should consist of thirty minutes six times per week. On all six of the sessions, do stretching and special exercises that are not weight-bearing. On three of the sessions in addition to the non-weight bearing exercises, do weight-bearing exercises such as brisk walking but also include exercise with weights or sprinting. You need at least three ten minute sessions of vigorous weight exercises or sprinting each week. Jogging or brisk walking is not a vigorous weight-bearing exercise.
  9. It is of the utmost importance to protect yourself from Alzheimer's because Alzheimer's controls your brain. If you do not take steps to protect from Alzheimer's, it will take many years off your life. To avoid Alzheimer's you must exercise your brain and take many other precautions. To get all necessary information, about Alzheimer's click on the link below for my article on it.
  10. If you need information on health conditions that you need to correct, go to my website on the link below for free information. Do not start on this program before discussing this with your health provider.
