Hormone Replacement Therapy

Hormone Replacement Therapy Research

Hormone Replacement Therapy known as HRT is a method of treatment for women to maintain their hormone level without taking estrogen hormones. This treatment is usually during the peri-menopausal and post-menopausal periods but can be used any time women need to stimulate their hormone levels.

This treatment uses drugs to artificially increase hormone levels. Such therapy should be done only under a doctor’s care. HRT treatment has many options, but usually consists of taking several drugs designed to increase estrogens, progesterone and testosterone. Because of the possibly dangerous side effects from these drugs, no woman should undertake this treatment without having her doctor outline all the benefits and dangers of the treatment.

Many of the drug benefits can be attained with a healthy lifestyle of nutrition and exercise. For information on healthy nutrition and exercise, click on my website article “Keys to reaching the century mark” and “Alzheimer’s”.
