Histrionic Personality Disorder
Histrionic personality disorder, also known as hysterical personality
disorder, is in the category of personality disorders and is
characterized by the desire of the person to receive approval from
activities such as excessive emotional expression, inappropriate
seductiveness and excessive attention seeking.
A person afflicted by this disorder is intense, dramatic,
provocative, highly emotional, and is likely to become influenced by
others. A person with this disorder might be a hypochondriac and
exaggerate their physical problems to get attention that is needed for
their well being.
Treatment for this disorder is basically the same as for other
personality disorders. If treatment is sought by the person, therapy
should be given by a psychiatrist who has experience with personality
disorders. He should thoroughly interview the person for a
complete history of any problems that may bear on this condition as
well as all present symptoms. This information should be helpful in
deciding on the most effective therapy that fits the patients profile
in symptoms or other conditions that pertain to histrionic personality
disorder.
Regardless of the therapy selected for this person, a healthy
lifestyle of exercise and proper nutrition will not only benefit this
person but almost any health problem. For more information on a
