Ways to reduce high blood pressure may affect arthritis or cholesterol. Drugs will lower the level of hypertension; but because of side affects a natural method should be tried first of a healthy lifestyle which includes proper nutrition, weight control, and exercise. There are many other methods of treatment, but a healthy lifestyle is the most effective. Weight control is one of the most important parts of the treatments, because most persons with hypertension are over weight or obese. The exercise program should be thirty minutes three to six times per week, which will lower the hypertension level, lower weight, and strengthen bone and muscle.

Proper nutrition means eat no refined glucose or carbohydrates, eat fruits, vegetables, lean protein, cold water fish, sprouted grain bread, celery stalks or celery juice, and two table spoons of golden brown flax seed ground up taken each day mixed in water, soy milk or fruit juice. Best food supplements are policosonal, fish oil, and multivitamins. Eat no more than 2.3 grams of salt, but eat at least 4 grams of potassium.
