Sodium high blood pressure will not affect arthritis or cholesterol. An excess amount of salt in the diet is believed to be a cause of hypertension; and although this belief has not been established, to be on the safe side people with hypertension should keep daily salt intake with no more than 2.2 grams. The most effect treatment is a healthy lifestyle of exercise, weight control and nutrition. Proper nutrition means to eat no refined glucose or carbohydrates, eat fruits, vegetables, lean protein, cold water fish, sprouted grain bread and fiber. Exercise should be at least thirty minutes three times per week. Food supplements important are policosonal, fish oil, and multivitamins. Special foods that help lower hypertension are celery stalks or celery juice and two table spoons of ground flax seed each day mixed in water, soy milk or fruit juice.
