High Blood Pressure Sodium

High blood pressure sodium may not affect cholesterol or arthritis. The general opinion is that an excessive amount of salt causes hypertension. Although this opinion has not been scientifically proven, most people eat too much salt and too little postassium; salt should be limited to 2.3 grams each day and take four grams of potassium in vegetables or fruits like bananas, tomatoes, or sweet potatoes. The most effective treatment for hypertension is a healthy lifestyle of exercise, weight control, and proper nutrition. High blood pressure sodium may not affect cholesterol or arthritis.

Weight control combined with exercise are most important, because exercise will lower weight and lower hypertension. Most people with hypertension are either over weight or obese and a weight reduction of five to ten percent may be all that is necessary to lower the hypertension level to normal. Exercise should be thirty minutes from three to six times per week. High blood pressure sodium may not affect cholesterol or arthritis.
