The most effective treatment is to live a lifestyle of proper diet, exercise and weight control. Weight control is of the utmost importance because almost all persons with hypertension are over weight or obese; and lowering body weight five to seven percent may be all that's needed to bring the hypertension level to normal. The proper diet means to eat no refined glucose or carbohydrates, eat fruits, vegetables, lean protein, cold water fish, sprouted grain bread, celery stalks or celery juice, two table spoons of ground flax seed taken each day with water, soy milk or fruit juice. The exercuse program should be thirty minutes three to six times per week. Medicines for high blood pressure may adversely affect arthritis or cholesterol.
