Hepatitis A

Hepatitis A Research

Many people who are exposed to the Hepatitis A virus never develop any of the symptoms which consist of jaundice, itching and fever. Hepatitis A is not a severe condition and does not cause long term liver damage, but fatigue and fever for a few of the people exposed could be severe and last for several months. Food or food containers could cause exposure to the Hepatitis A virus.

There is no cure for Hepatitis A but when symptoms develop, the most effective treatment is rest, a healthy diet and many liquids. The exposure to Hepatitis A is poor hygiene. Prevention if someone is infected is to observe strict hygiene and not to use any personal items of the infected person such as tooth brushes, utensils or similar items. Exposure to body fluids of an infected person will also cause an infection Because most people infected with the hepatitis A virus never have symptoms, a healthy lifestyle of exercise, weight control and good nutrition will eliminate problems with this disease.
