Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is in the category of anxiety
disorders in which a person has a worry that for the average person
would not have the uncontrollable and intensity of pain that the person
has with GAD. This is a condition that is a continuous worry and
becomes so extremely painful that it interferes with normal activities
such as working or sleeping.
There are many symptoms of GAD that include restlessness,
hyperactivity, tension, worrying fear, worry about losing a job, worry
about finances, and worry about health. Some are trivial such as
keeping appointments, keeping the house excessively clean, and worry
about organizing office activities.
Any person with the above symptoms should get a diagnosis from a
specialist in neurological diseases. After an appropriate diagnosis has
been made with confirmation of the condition as GAD, treatment should
begin. The usual treatment begins with drugs which may offer
relief of the symptoms, but not always. The most effective treatment is
a combination of cognitive behavior and drugs.
Regardless of the treatment, a healthy lifestyle of proper nutrition
and physical therapy will not only benefit GAD, but almost any health
problem. For more information on a healthy lifestyle, view my
