Diaper Rash

Diaper Rash Research

Diaper rash is an atopic dermatitis rash condition in which the skin becomes red, sometimes breaks out into patches or covers a large part of the body in a short space of time. The diaper rash usually covers the area close to the same space as the diaper area. The cause of diaper rash could be a food allergy or more likely occurs from constant or long standing contact from urine or feces.

Diaper rash usually clears up at about age three or four but could recur thereafter as well. Eliminating any food allergies may provide relief. Under a doctor's care certain medications may relieve itching and other symptoms. There are also many over the counter remedies available that may prove effective.
