National Cholesterol Education Program

The National Cholesterol Education Program will not affect arthritis or blood sugar. There are many web sites on the Internet that have valuable information on lipoproteins and how to maintain a proper level of lipoproteins. Lipoproteins are a major fat substance that circulates in the arteries and the body produces enough for necessary maintenance that the body requires. The two basic elements of lipoproteins are the high density lipoproteins HDL that clean the arteries and the low density lipoproteins LDL that clog the arteries. The HDL are the good lipoproteins and the LDL are the bad lipoproteins. The National Cholesterol Education Program will not affect arthritis or blood sugar.

National Cholesterol Education Program

  -

Cholesterol, arthritis

The goal is to keep total lipoproteins within the range of 160 to 200 milligrams with HDL at more than 25 percent of the total. The goal is not to get the lipoprotein level at the lowest level because a level lower than l40 milligrams is just as dangerous as one well over 200 milligrams. To maintain a level within the 160 to 200 milligrams requires a healthy lifestyle of proper nutrition, weight control and exercise. The National Cholesterol Education Program will not affect arthritis or blood sugar.
