Cerebral Angiography

Cerebral Angiography

Cerebral angiography is a method used by a doctor to measure the blood flow in an artery to the brain. This may reveal an aneurism, an inflammation, a blood vessel abnormality or a blocked blood vessel that has caused a stroke.

The procedure used is to inject a dye, one that is visible by x-rays, into an artery that is a blood supply to the brain.  The blood flow patterns are shown on x-rays with the help of the dye. This procedure has proved to be the best method to measure blood flow to the brain because of the precise detail in the pictures.
