Antisocial Personality Disorder

Antisocial Personality Disorder

Antisocial personality is in the category of personality disorders and is characterized by the way the people afflicted with antisocial personality disorder indicate an adverse reaction to the law and the rights of others. People who have symptoms of antisocial personality disorder may steal or lie, and many times fail to fulfill responsibilities of job or family. Men and not women are by far the most afflicted with symptoms of antisocial personality disorder. They show a callous disregard for the rights of others and exploit them for material profit and personal benefits.  This differs from narcissistic people who do the same thing but with a different motive which is that they feel superior and better than others. Persons afflicted with antisocial personality disorder cannot take criticism without violent and hostile actions, and they never feel remorse or responsible for their behavior.

People with antisocial personality disorder are likely to have many bad traits such as drug addiction, alcoholism, promiscuity, criminal violations and penalties. However, many  people have this condition as a youngster and outgrow it as they grow older and become adults. This condition is difficult to treat because the afflicted people rarely seek treatment and the disorder is chronic. If treatment becomes necessary or desired, it may be helped by drugs and counseling.

Regardless of the treatment selected, a healthy lifestyle of proper nutrition and exercise will not only benefit this disorder but almost any health problem.
